Jena – Stadtwerke Jena GmbH (public utility company) has optimised its online presence with the help of the local digital agency dotSource. This included the implementation of a new content management system from Magnolia as well as the harmonisation of the designs of the individual subsidiaries. This makes it easier for customers to find the services they are looking for and inform themselves online.
In 2021, the people in charge at Stadtwerke Jena decided that it was time for a new online presence that unites all parts of the group. Due to its local presence and expertise in the digitalisation of the energy industry, the Jena-based digital agency dotSource was selected to realise the project.
Five New Websites Within a Year: Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Throughout the project, which began in November 2021, the design and usability of all existing group websites were evaluated and requirements for the new online presence were defined in workshops. The motto for the new design: everything under one roof! The websites of Stadtwerke Jena Group, Stadtwerke Energie (energy), Jenaer Bäder und Freizeit (pools and leisure), Jenaer Nahverkehr (public transport) and jenawohnen (public housing) were to be accessible in a central location and harmonised in terms of their design. Furthermore, the performance and usability of the websites was to be improved and they were to be optimised for search engines.
To achieve this, dotSource's design, digital marketing and content management teams worked closely together with the people in charge at Stadtwerke Jena to devise a roadmap for the implementation of a new content management system from Magnolia. The climax: all new websites went live on the 22nd of November 2022.
Magnolia CMS: A Reliable Basis for Multiple Web Applications
The Magnolia CMS enables the integration of third-party applications into the content management system. Especially for an online presence with such a wide range of features as, for example, the customer portal of Stadtwerke Energie or the route planner of Jenaer Nahverkehr, the uncomplicated integration of external data and applications plays a vital role. Additionally, the Magnolia CMS offers the advantage of simplified content maintenance. The content can now be used across all websites within Stadtwerke Jena Group.
Users particularly benefit from the new navigation structure that makes the information they need more appealing and easier to find. »With the collective online presence of Stadtwerke Jena, we are able to offer products and services in a single digital space.
