Press Release
Jena/Mettlach – The long-established manufacturer of ceramics and porcelain products, Villeroy & Boch, has elevated its B2C e-commerce in the Dining and Lifestyle segment to the next level by collaborating with the digital agency dotSource. To achieve this, the performance and visibility of the online shop has been optimised and the course has been set for a new content management system (CMS) to ensure an enhanced online shopping experience for its customers.
Since 1748, Villeroy & Boch has dedicated itself to elegance – the variety of attractive and practical ceramics and porcelain products is celebrated by the globally renowned brand in its Dining and Lifestyle as well as Bathroom and Wellness segments along with its own licensed product range. However, with its progressive digital strategy, the manufacturer proves that tradition is not synonymous with backwardness, as it already generates 30 per cent of its total revenue through online sales.
To further build on this, Villeroy & Boch turned to dotSource with the request to optimise its B2C online shop in the Dining and Lifestyle segment in terms of its visual appearance and visibility. In joint workshops, the digital agency and the manufacturer of ceramics and porcelain products devised a roadmap for improving the entire customer journey.
High-Performance Online Shop for an Ideal User Experience
First, the online shop architecture was adapted to the Storefront Reference Architecture of Salesforce Commerce Cloud. This made it possible to not only improve the payment feature, but also to adopt a mobile-first approach for the website design. By doing so, customers' desires for simple and flexible online shopping options were taken into account. Other features, such as wishlist reminders and product recommendations, which were developed in close collaboration between dotSource and Villeroy & Boch, also contributed to this.
»After a challenging implementation phase of our online shop with Salesforce Commerce Cloud, we identified a lot of optimisation potential in terms of user experience and web technology together with the dotSource experts. dotSource helped us make the most of this potential and is now an important and reliable partner for Villeroy & Boch, supporting us on the path to strengthening our online sales channel,« Mark Hoffmann, E-Commerce Project Manager at Villeroy & Boch, comments on the successful collaboration.
The improved usability and enhanced performance lead to optimised search engine rankings, increasing Villeroy & Boch's online visibility.
Added Value for Customers with a Powerful CMS
These days, a high-quality online shop also needs appealing content that provides customers with information and trends beyond the mere presentation of products. To be able to implement such a content commerce strategy, a powerful CMS is required. The solution used by Villeroy & Boch no longer met this requirement, so it was decided to switch to the Magnolia CMS.
Moreover, the manufacturer of ceramics and porcelain products plans to create an overarching platform architecture for its multi-faceted product worlds. In this upcoming multi-stream project, dotSource will also be involved as the implementation partner.
