dotSource creates new subscription shop for europe's largest daily newspaper

Whether on paper or digitally on a smartphone, tablet, smartwatch, or internet-enabled TV - BILD is always with its readers, all day, everyday. In order to guarantee readers a quick way to subscribe with state-of-the-art technology, the Jena digital agency has relaunched the online shop for BILD GmbH & Co KG.

Jena, the 16th of January 2018

BILD is Germany’s largest online news website. As an established subscription shop of BILD GmbH & Co KG, a subsidiary of Axel Springer SE, Lesershop24 offeres interested readers access to various subscriptions, including; Bild, Die Welt, Welt am Sonntag, and Computer Bild. Since previous versions no longer fulfilled the requirements of a modern user experience, the company decided to approach dotSource GmbH. The goal was to build an online shop supported by modern web technology and a guaranteed contemporary feeling online presence, that wouldn’t go out of date in the next few years. With a migration to Magento 2, Lesershop24 is now based on the latest version of webshop technology. William van Tubbs, Head of Online Marketing at BILD GmbH & Co. KG ist convinced: »With the new Lesershop24, we’ve secured a modern presence with excellent technical performance for years to come.«

An especially challenging part of the project was the ability to create a technically flawless, fast, stringent, and visually appealing purchase and payment process, without a separate customer area: »In order to implement this, we modified the standard software in such a way that a check-out area, including the required security parameters, could be integrated on all product pages«, says Christian Grötsch, founder and managing director of dotSource.

In addition to a contemporary design, the relaunch enables the maintenance of product data in a simple, effective, and very adaptable way. Thanks to dotSource's built-in Page Builder plug-in, elements can easily be placed and filled with content. The versatile configuration options make the pages easy to customize. In order to facilitate the import and export of data on the products offered, premiums available, possible benefits, and payment methods, dotSource also implemented the required SAP interface.
