Press Release
Jena – The digital agency dotSource focuses on internationalisation to ensure its continued growth. For this reason, it has changed its legal form to a European company (SE) with retroactive effect from 1 January 2023. By doing so, dotSource SE fully assumes the rights and obligations of dotSource GmbH. This has no effect on clients, partners and employees.
At the beginning of the year, Christian Otto Grötsch, founder and managing director of dotSource, had already announced the new internationalisation strategy of his agency, which now has more than 500 employees. After the opening of a new office in Rijeka (Croatia) in spring, the next step followed at the end of May: changing the legal form from dotSource GmbH to dotSource SE, with dotSource SE fully assuming the rights and obligations of dotSource GmbH.
The abbreviation SE stands for »Societas Europaea« – the Latin expression for »European company« – and refers to a public limited company operating in various European countries. In order to change the legal form, dotSource GmbH was merged with the existing affiliated company dotSource Operations SE. The entry into the commercial register at the District Court of Düsseldorf took place on 26 May 2023, with retroactive effect from 1 January 2023.
The existing shareholders of dotSource GmbH, Christian Otto Grötsch and Christian Malik, will remain in place. As a result, the digital agency continues to be 100 per cent run by its owners.
Internationalisation as a Driver of Growth
Since being founded in 2006, the digital agency's revenue has grown by an average of 30 per cent per year. The dotSource management – Christian Otto Grötsch, Christian Malik, Frank Ertel and Janine Bohnenberg – would like to maintain this trajectory by expanding beyond the DACH region and opening up new markets. Changing the legal form to dotSource SE will not only make it easier for dotSource to establish collaboration with the new office in Rijeka, but also strengthen relationships with clients and partners in other European countries.
dotSource's ambitious plans include the vision of growing to 1000 employees and generating over 100 million euros in revenue. At this point in time, more than 500 people work for dotSource across Europe, with the digital agency's revenue in 2022 amounting to approximately 37 million euros.
»It is particularly important for us to maintain the family-like atmosphere that is characteristic of our agency – even in the face of steady and international growth,« Christian Otto Grötsch, founder and managing director of dotSource, emphasises. »In 2023 and 2024, we will initially focus on strengthening and expanding our existing offices in Jena, Leipzig, Dresden, Stuttgart, Berlin and Rijeka«.
For the clients, partners and employees of the digital agency, the change of legal form does not entail any changes.
