Press Release
Jena/Radevormwald – In close collaboration with the software provider Contentserv, the digital agency dotSource integrated a new master data management (MDM) system into the IT landscape at Gira Giersiepen GmbH & Co. KG (hereinafter referred to as Gira), a manufacturer of electrical installation technology and leading vendor of smart home products. During the implementation, training courses in using the new software solution were held for the company's employees.
The family-owned company from the Bergisches Land region describes itself as »the ones with the switches«. However, Gira's product range includes not only light switches and socket outlets, but also sophisticated smart home solutions for the houses of the future. In addition to its innovative products, the digitally savvy company works on its IT infrastructure with an eye to the future. In this context, Gira decided to replace its existing product information management system with a new, powerful MDM solution.
Smart Data Management for More Than 13,000 Products
As a digital agency with an agnostic approach, dotSource was entrusted with the system evaluation and the subsequent selection of a provider. Contentserv came out on top thanks to its numerous technical benefits, including native integrations with Adobe products (e.g. InDesign) and powerful digital asset management features based on artificial intelligence, making it possible to analyse image files, for example, and thereby accelerate processes. The software provider also stood out on a human level with its openness and willingness to grow with the Gira use case while responding to individual customer requirements.
Besides creating specifications and implementing Contentserv, dotSource also ensured a successful launch thanks to extensive testing cycles. The new MDM software solution serves as a central data hub that is far more sophisticated than the previous product data management tool. Gira now uses Contentserv as a single source of truth to manage more than 13,000 products, over 9,000 assets and numerous domains such as suppliers and production sites. More than 40 product ranges for different countries were created based on channel-specific data and 29 language variants were generated.
Tailored Training Courses for Independent Data Management
»dotSource has guided us through the project professionally. The open and solution-oriented communication on an equal footing is particularly memorable. We now feel empowered to take our data management to the next level with Contentserv,« Sebastian Marz, Managing Director at Gira, comments on the collaboration with dotSource.
Overall, the multi-domain MDM project took more than two years, with dotSource organising training courses and workshops aimed at empowering Gira employees to use Contentserv independently going forward. dotSource continues to work closely with the innovative manufacturer of electrical installation technology, providing support and consulting services even after launching the MDM system.
