Jena, 7th June 2016

Verlag an der Ruhr commissioned the Jena digital agency with the relaunch of their online presence. The aim was to implement a digitalisation strategy for the specialist book retailer that meets the changing needs of its customers.

"In recent years, the share of online book sales has grown steadily. In their sales strategy, publishers must consider the changed consumption and usage behaviour accompanying digitalisation. With the implementation of the new Magento-based e-commerce platform, we were able to provide Verlag an der Ruhr with the best conditions to develop new distribution channels and to interact more directly with their customers and prospects, " dotSource Managing Director Christian Otto Grötsch explains.

The project focus was on the replacement of the previous two systems, a website based on the CMS system Typo 3 and a connected online shop based on GS Shopbuilder Dynamics.

In addition, the responsive webdesign developed by dotSource serves the expectations of users in their interaction with the corporate presence optimally across different devices. The attractive front end as well as improved product presentation and structuring of information facilitate faster product findability.

Especially the connection of the Magento platform to the latest SAP version, which was realised by dotSource, allows Verlag an der Ruhr optimum technical integration into the existing infrastructure of the Cornelsen Group. Cost- and time-consuming processes are now automated.

"The new online shop provides us with a consistent brand image across all channels. Thanks to intuitive navigation and filter function, our programme portfolio is now
searchable - this increased the visibilty of our products significantly," says David Gielen, Head of Marketing at Verlag an der Ruhr GmbH.

On the project page you can find detailed information about the project as well as a comprehensive case study.
