Jena/Schlitz – One of the leading retailers and manufacturers of lamps and lighting, Lampenwelt GmbH, implemented a product data management system together with the digital agency dotSource. This means that several thousand products can now be better organised and even more effectively displayed in the online shop.
Lampenwelt is a retailer and manufacturer of lighting of all types, various smart home systems, light bulbs and now even photovoltaic products, which are sold exclusively through its online shop. Since being founded in 1999, the company has grown rapidly and has established itself as the most successful online pure player in the lighting segment in Europe. To ensure adequate handling of its product data now and in the future, the medium-sized company decided to implement a product information management (PIM) system.
Together with its implementation partner dotSource, Lampenwelt opted for the data management tool from Stibo Systems, which could be perfectly integrated into the existing system landscape and, as a master data management (MDM) solution, would provide flexibility to accommodate the further growth of Lampenwelt's product range.
MDM for a Wide Range of Lighting Products
With the new Stibo Systems solution, it is possible to handle much more than just mere product data. It also maps complex data management processes. Additionally, the dotSource experts defined quality gates for product presentation, taking into account industry-specific regulations such as energy labels for light bulbs.
A significant challenge during the project was the fact that Lampenwelt's digitalisation strategy also envisaged replacing the existing enterprise resource tool. For this reason, the dotSource PIM consultants had to be particularly thorough and efficient to ensure seamless data workflows despite switching to a new system.
DAM and Connection to the Award-Winning Online Shop
One of the most important steps when implementing a PIM system is the connection to existing software solutions. In the case of Lampenwelt, this particularly applied to the interface with the e-commerce system: the platform was able to win the 2022 »Shop of the Year« award presented by acquisa and should now optimally benefit from the improved product data.
In addition to implementing an interface, the digital asset management (DAM) features of the new Stibo Systems solution were used. All image and video files are stored in the system, providing Lampenwelt customers with visually appealing impressions of the company's high-quality products. They can easily be distributed across all channels, which reduces the workload of Lampenwelt employees and further enriches the online shop.
