With the migration of its online shops to Salesforce B2B Commerce Cloud, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG is further expanding its pioneering position in B2B e-commerce together with its implementation partner dotSource. The new online shop is being rolled out in 36 countries and offers demanding customers a shopping experience that is similar to what they are used to from B2C – without sacrificing complexity.

Since 2018, the Heidelberg Digital Unit team has been continuously expanding the e-commerce presence, e-commerce activities and digital marketing of HEIDELBERG in a future-proof way. With its B2B online shop, the company is a pioneer in the traditional printing industry.
HEIDELBERG and dotSource: The Perfect Mix of Pionering Spirit and Digital Expertise
Even in the B2B sector, customers nowadays expect digital availability and a user-friendly shopping experience. Since products and components in B2B are significantly more complex, this places correspondingly high demands on the e-commerce systems in use. As an implementation partner, dotSource can draw on extensive expertise from various B2B online shop projects with globally operating industrial companies such as Angst+Pfister and TROX GmbH. With the B2B Digital Masters Convention, dotSource also dedicates a separate conference to B2B commerce every autumn – in 2021, this included insights into HEIDELBERG's global software rollout.
In the case of HEIDELBERG, dotSource provided support in stabilising and standardising the company's modern B2B platform. Thanks to the migration to Salesforce B2B Commerce Cloud, HEIDELBERG's 36 international online shops can now be hosted via a uniform system while still allowing the national subsidiaries to manage and configure the individual online shops. The e-commerce tool fits perfectly into the existing Salesforce structures, for example Salesforce Service Cloud as a customer relationship management system, providing HEIDELBERG with a 360-degree view of the customer.
Next-Level B2B E-Commerce for HEIDELBERG
The high-quality B2B online shop is perfectly connected to a PIM system previously implemented by dotSource. This means that information on individual products can be imported directly into the comprehensive Salesforce features for product presentation. Thanks to single sign-on, a powerful search function and intuitive UX elements in line with the corporate design, HEIDELBERG is able to create a seamless customer journey – something that is usually only found in modern B2C online shops.
This way, HEIDELBERG underpins its pioneering role in the printing and media industry and gears up for the digital future of B2B e-commerce. Following the rollout of all country shops, HEIDELBERG intends to expand its portfolio by adding apps and licences for digital services, which can then also be sold via the new online shop.
