SAP-based online shop for standard parts specialist: KIPP moves to the cloud

Jena / Sulz am Neckar – With its modernised B2B online shop, KIPP, a leading manufacturer of standard elements, proves that entrepreneurial tradition and digital innovation can go hand in hand. The project, carried out in collaboration with the digital agency dotSource, focuses on cutting-edge e-commerce in the SAP cloud environment.

For many years, customers from a wide range of industries have valued the extensive product catalogues for clamping technology, standard elements and operating parts offered by HEINRICH KIPP WERK GmbH & Co. KG (in short: KIPP). However, interest in online procurement is growing in B2B as well. The renowned manufacturer of standard elements was aware of the demands made by its business customers and wanted to impress them not only with outstanding product quality, but also with an optimised customer experience.

To turn its online shop into a modern and future-proof platform for international B2B e-commerce, KIPP decided to work with dotSource. Together, the two companies replaced the previously used in-house shop solution with the powerful SAP Commerce Cloud platform.

New Design, New Features, New Set-up

With the help of the digital agency, KIPP analysed and evaluated the requirements regarding the modernised B2B online shop. The Baden-Württemberg-based company also drew on the expertise of the dotSource user experience design team. The result: a high-quality customer experience for KIPP's target audience – with powerful B2B features such as live product availability queries, display of customer-specific prices and computer-aided design data of KIPP products for download.

Furthermore, KIPP now benefits from completely revamped screen designs for various subpages. With intuitive categorisation, the company's comprehensive product range can be displayed in a user-friendly way for both desktop and mobile users.

Another plus: In the new »My Account« area, users can view their orders from the past, including receipts, and add alternative delivery addresses if required. For an excellent user experience, the dotSource team also configured the online shop's search function according to KIPP's needs.

Successful Cloud Move for KIPP

With the support of dotSource, a complex cloud move was completed, with KIPP's entire online shop architecture being migrated from an on-premises solution to SAP Commerce Cloud. This makes the new online shop more resilient, scalable and resource-efficient, as it consumes less energy in the long term than local hosting.

dotSource will continue to work with the long-established company to secure the long-term success of the online sales channel. Further exciting features are set to be rolled out in 2024. Customer relationship management and marketing automation tools from Salesforce will also be implemented to utilise the full potential of modern B2B commerce through better customer communication and more conversions.
