Press Release
The digital agency with headquarters in Jena, Thuringia, has placed first in the new ranking of owner-run digital agencies in Germany released by the prestigious publishing house HighText Verlag. This underlines dotSource's essential role in the agency landscape and highlights the advantages of medium-sized enterprises.
In the German agency scene, the iBusiness Internet Agency Ranking has already been a highlight for several years. Since 2007, it has shown how the market has evolved and has provided companies with role models and direction in terms of their digitalisation projects. In recent rankings, a notable shift has been observed from traditional digital agencies to networks, with the top ten spots being dominated by major alliances and some outside players. In 2022, with a revenue of about 30 million euros, dotSource was the only owner-run agency that made it in the top 20 of the iBusiness Internet Agency Ranking.
Owner-run agencies are still the predominant group in the German agency landscape. This year, HighText Verlag, which is based in Munich, provided a more realistic overview by publishing a ranking of the leading owner-run digital agencies for the first time, with dotSource claiming the top spot.
Comprehensive Service Portfolio Along with Individual Assistance
The market for digitalisation services is expected to continuously evolve. This involves service providers having to eventually cover the entire digital transformation of a company's processes. That is why specialised, owner-run agencies struggle to compete for large client projects. For several years, dotSource has been working on expanding its service portfolio and has long been offering far more services than simple e-commerce implementation. Numerous dotSource teams are currently working together on complex multi-stream projects; for example, the deployment of complex content commerce solutions by connecting content management tools to shop systems and the development of a 360-degree view of the customer using CRM and BI software.
Besides a high-performance e-commerce landscape, BayWa AG received support in implementing an internal order system and a marketing automation solution. Moreover, for the renowned digital camera manufacturer FUJIFILM, dotSource experts are currently working on rolling out B2C online shops all over Europe. Additionally, comprehensive CRM and marketing automation software is being connected to these online shops to ensure excellent customer retention.
Hence, dotSource clients keep benefitting from the advantages of a medium-sized, owner-run service provider: all clients receive outstanding assistance and the success of every single project is a management priority. In this regard, clients can rely on short and simplified decision-making processes.
Sustainable Growth Towards 1,000 Employees
Despite the recent turbulent years, dotSource has managed to return to its pre-pandemic growth trajectory in the last year with an increase in revenue to around 30 million euros, which signifies a growth of approximately 20%.
This is also reflected in the incessant human resources development. In contrast to large networks, dotSource focuses on the targeted training and development of skilled workers in the region. Furthermore, the digital agency has endowed multiple e-commerce degree programmes at the universities in Jena – the birthplace of e-commerce.
By implementing this strategy, the owner-run digital agency paves the way for a great vision. By 2025, the number of employees is expected to double and a significant increase in revenue is anticipated. With this plan in mind, there are high hopes of obtaining a top position in the ranking in upcoming years as well.
