About Formel-Pro
BayWa AG is an internationally operating group with headquarters in Munich. BayWa and dotSource have been working together for many years to implement pioneering digital solutions that fit perfectly. The BayWa Building Materials business unit, for example, is one of the industry's leading companies in Germany. Formel-Pro is a brand belonging to BayWa AG, whose product range includes construction chemicals, construction technology products, insulation materials as well as gardening and landscaping products.
Project Successes
Standardised Content Management System across the Entire Group
An expanded CMS channel that is capable of content commerce was created for Formel-Pro. To achieve this, the previous content management system (CMS) TYPO3 was replaced with Bloomreach Experience Manager (brXM). dotSource had already migrated the CMS to Bloomreach for BayWa's own brand Südpellets. As a result, brXM is now used as the CMS across the entire group. This creates synergies and saves time and effort thanks to central content maintenance. In the future, it will also be possible for Formel-Pro to merge content and commerce, i.e. to combine informative content with a seamless shopping experience.
Connection to a Modern PIM System
In the previous CMS, the manual maintenance of product data took a lot of time and was prone to errors. To improve this, an existing interface between the product information management (PIM) system and the e-commerce system (SAP Commerce) was extended to enable connection to brXM.
Thanks to this integration, all systems involved can benefit from the same database in real time.
Synergy Effects for Content and Commerce
As part of the migration and integration process, new features were implemented as well. Videos are now automatically integrated from the PIM system into product detail pages; the download centre is also automatically filled via the PIM system. However, the implementation of the CMS did not mark the end of the collaboration between Formel-Pro and dotSource: A quantity calculator will be the next feature to be implemented. In addition, the developed interface can be reused to connect further CMS channels. Every other building materials and agricultural brand belonging to BayWa can use it in the future so that their product detail pages can also be automatically generated.
