Initial Situation & Objectives

PRECITOOL approached dotSource with the request to find a central and modern e-commerce solution for all participating partners. The objective was to create a solution that brings together all partners on one technical platform, represents them digitally in the best possible way and is easy to maintain.

After all, the desired end product for renowned B2B customers was to provide a solution that, on the one hand, enables partners to make optimal use of synergy effects and, on the other hand, reduces the visible complexity of product selection for users.

Project Scope & Implementation

After receiving expert advice from dotSource and jointly identifying personas, it was decided to use a multi-client platform based on commercetools. This solution also expresses the togetherness of the partners to the outside world. At the same time, however, the platform is so flexible that each partner can customise it to suit his shop.

The focus was also on implementing a user-friendly product filter and search function. Supported by a systematic exchange of experiences between PRECITOOL and dotSource, the additional implementation of a content management system (CMS) now ensures the consistent maintenance of all the content.

Success & Added Value

Complex requirements do not necessarily result in complicated processes. Clear structures and multi-layered digital solutions as well as flexible adaptability to individual requirements lay the foundation for joint technical progress. The project was realised with the help of commercetools' functional approaches, the implementation of the TYPO3 content management system and the integration of personal contacts into the ordering process.

This way, an initial in-depth analysis of internal and user-specific needs resulted in a flexible e-commerce landscape, allowing PRECITOOL to quickly integrate new partners and improving the quality and maintenance of the information representation. It also makes communication with customers easier and enhances it in the long term.
