About SEAT
The Spanish car manufacturer SEAT can look back on more than seven decades of success. In 1986, SEAT S.A. founded SEAT Deutschland GmbH as its own subsidiary for the German market. With more than 100,000 vehicles sold, the Federal Republic of Germany was once again the most important market for SEAT S.A. in 2021.
Project Successes
FUTURE-PROOF E-COMMERCE PLATFORM
The car manufacturer was satisfied with the existing e-commerce software, but wanted to migrate to a newer version in order to be better prepared for the future. Accordingly, dotSource worked with SEAT to develop a strategy for migrating to Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce as smoothly as possible. Initially, dotSource also took over the hosting and operation of the existing online shop.
MULTI-CLIENT SYSTEM COMBINES B2B AND B2C
Since there should no longer be separate shop solutions for B2B and B2C, a powerful multi-client system was created. As a result, car dealers, for example, will also be able to order their advertising materials and merchandise products centrally and easily using the new shop solution because SEAT's B2B online shop will be appropriately integrated into the multi-client system based on Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce. In addition, another B2C online shop was launched for the up-and-coming automotive brand CUPRA.
OPTIMAL SYSTEM INTEGRATION
dotSource integrated the existing product information management (PIM) system from Akeneo as well as SEAT's billing and shipping software into the new e-commerce tool in order to ensure seamless data exchange and optimised ordering processes. This way, SEAT benefits from perfect synchronisation between the components of its system landscape and the new e-commerce system.
